About Gemma
I have been teaching embodied mindfulness for over 25 years. I’m passionate about this work and find that it not only enhances the “everyday” in my life, but also my understanding of who I am.
Like most people my work on the “Self” has been born out of necessity. Our lives can be painful, both physically and emotionally; we need to learn how to navigate through with as much dexterity as possible. For me Alexander Technique, yoga, talking therapies and learning about our energy bodies has been the way through. I use the many skills collected along my meandering path in my work with clients and in my classes.

I live in Cornwall, in the beautiful Tamar Valley with my husband and our two beautiful dogs. The natural surroundings of my home feeds my soul and is essential to my emotional and mental wellbeing. In 2021 we were lucky enough to be able to plant a small broadleaf woodland, fulfilling a lifelong ambition. I honestly thought that it would be harder than it was.
Our current project is restoring our 300-year-old farmhouse, using traditional methods, and I can honestly say it’s harder than I thought it would be! Chipping cement render off the ancient stone façade and rebuilding collapsed walls has tested me in many ways. I am eternally grateful for the years of Alexander Technique and yoga practice, which supports me through this physically challenging time.
The continuation of my work, both professionally and personally, means recognising our innate connection to the natural world and its seasons; how this bond governs our energy levels, need for enjoyment, and desire for expansiveness or withdrawal.
Our entire lives can be reflected in the natural world, working with the seasons we can find the right balance between action and rest. In a world where acute busyness is revered and even celebrated, I feel this approach to our wellbeing is more important than ever.
Originally as an extra resource and a way to offer more support to my online clients, I created a YouTube channel and Facebook group – Your Path out of Pain. Both the channel and group have become highly supportive, community led spaces which you are welcome to join.
**I am a certified teaching member of the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique. I am fully insured and hold a current DBS check.**
