Classes
Have you made the decision that this year is going to see the very best version of yourself?
If, like me, you’re committed to conscious embodiment, freedom in movement and personal growth, then you’ll need a bit of support along the way.
Setting aside time each week to dedicate yourself to yourself is just about the most supportive thing you can do.
Little and often. Regular focus.
Because it’s the small, habitual stuff you do that makes your world better, and that’s why everybody loves a scheduled class. It gives support to the process of change by creating the space, even during the most chaotic week.
Alexander Technique classes

In these relaxed and friendly classes, you learn the practice of Embodied Mindfulness, using the principles of the Alexander Technique, all within the framework of gentle movement. Each month there is a different theme and as you progress, you’re building a skill for life!
Spending time on the floor (on a yoga mat or similar), seated and standing, you’ll learn to use these unique skills to enhance your mind-body connection. Gentle enough for everyone, even those suffering with chronic pain. The classes will improve your muscular tone and strengthen your internal and postural support.
Joining these classes is an ideal way to nourish and support your body in its constant quest for balance and ease. You will also get the opportunity to learn the self-care practice of Constructive Rest; a “lifesaving” practice for busy people!

Alexander Technique and yoga

Yoga is in itself an embodied practice. However, an overzealous desire to look like a brilliant yogi (or to get it “right”) can create habits of tension and holding in the body. Bringing in the principles of the Alexander Technique transforms your practice into a body led, kind and conscious experience.
In these classes we come together to find the gentle way to practice and teach yoga poses; to bring about the understanding that your body wisdom is greater than any teachers’ learning or instructions.
My style of yoga is heavily influenced by the work of Vanda Scaravelli, who’s beautiful words echo my own sentiments.
“Do not kill the instinct for the glory of the pose. Do not look at your body like a stranger, but adopt a friendly approach toward it. Watch it, listen to it, observe its needs, its requests, and even have fun. To be sensitive is to be alive.”
** This class is designed for yoga teachers and experienced yogis, because I am not a yoga teacher. Using the Alexander technique and my toolbox of somatic skills, I will be teaching you to meet your body in an extraordinarily kind way within the framework of yoga, so that you may share that gentleness with your own students. **
For speed of learning, nothing compares to the (repetitive) direct contact of hands-on work for giving the body a new and useful kinaesthetic experience. Therefore, if you have a specific issue which needs attention, I recommend the one-to-one lessons. Find out more here.
